New Functionality

Timeline in Periscopes! 

We added a mini timeline view directly within the periscope. Having the Sonar timeline detail in the periscope will help if you're troubleshooting an issue or looking for more context on a specific piece of Salesforce metadata. 

Take the example below, you know you had a formula field that was working but for some reason, you're now getting different results. You can quickly find that field in Sonar then see the history of changes and what is now different. 


This feature is also extremely valuable for other pieces of metadata like understanding who changed a validation rule and what the rule was changed to.


The timeline view shows up for these pieces of metadata in Sonar:

  • Salesforce Fields
  • Validation Rules
  • Salesforce Workflow Rules
  • Apex Classes
  • Apex Triggers
  • Email Templates

Note - this timeline view will start capturing data moving forward. We are not populating historical data in this view.

Updated Functionality

Custom Lookups

Previously Sonar would lose visibility to field references if a formula included fields that were being referenced through a custom lookup field. Now, we've accounted for that scenario and will always show the field references no matter how many lookup fields a formula goes through. 


(PS - if you have a formula field like this I'm glad you have Sonar!)

Periscope Default View

We heard feedback from our customers that they were constantly hiding inactive automations from the view in Sonar. More specifically we heard users only wanted to see what was active now because that's what will be impacted when you make changes. Now by default, only active automations are shown when viewing them in Sonar. In order to see both Active and Inactive automation click the "Show Inactive" slider. 



Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a UI issue that was causing the search bar on email templates to stretch.
  • In some cases, fields were showing up twice when viewing a tag on its home page. We fixed that so now a field only shows up once. 
  • Fixed an issue that improved routing new customers during onboarding
